Not only did it see the loss of a vitally important source of support for young people in the region, but also left the city an entertainment and conference venue light.

However, The Lind Trust, which owns the building, is hopeful it will soon be put back to good use, with talks over its future ongoing.

Recently the Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Opportunities and Asset Management, Alderman James Vos, invited the French Ambassador, Aurélien Lechevallier, joined by his economic unit, to the Atlantis Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) on a fact-finding mission aimed at building investor confidence and investigating the possibility of future collaborations.
Focussed on the Green Economy with the aim of attracting and retaining export-focussed GreenTech investment, the Atlantis Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) is the result of the collaboration between the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, the Western Cape Government’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism and the City of Cape Town.
The 2021 elections mark the 106th anniversary of a little-known Supreme Court decision that struck down an Annapolis City Charter change known as the “grandfather clause,” that prohibited nearly all Black Annapolis residents from voting between 1909 and 1915. The law stripped a prominent Black alderman of his seat and snapped more than two decades of near-continuous Black representation on the City Council.
ERWIN â Newly seated Erwin Mayor Glenn White has resigned from his seat on the Unicoi County Commission.
White, who was sworn into office as Erwin mayor in late November, announced his resignation from the 2nd District commission seat at Mondayâs meeting of the townâs Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
In a brief statement read early in Mondayâs meeting, White cited duties of his new office that he said demand more of his personal attention than the duties he was required to meet as one of nine county commissioners.
White said he gave his letter of resignation to County Mayor Garland âBubbaâ Evely last week and expected the commission to act swiftly to appoint someone to serve out the unexpired two years of his commission term.
