Trotters tussled in series action Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park, as the Campbellville oval hosted round two of the Wine & Roses Trotting Series and the Family Day Trotting Series. Charmbo Prince was a repeat winner in the Family Day Trotting Series for driver Mike Saftic and trainer Jack Rier. The four-year-old son of Royalty For Life-Hetties Charm dictated the terms of the tempo when he threw down very sensible fractions of :28.4, 1:00 and 1:30.3. It turned into a final quarter sprint, and Charmbo Prince uncorked :27-second speed in the final frame en route to winning by a length over Franks Angel in 1:57.2. Toccoa Falls was third. ....

In rein to driver James MacDonald, Buck Dancer got away fourth in the $22,000 affair while stablemates Wings Of Speed (:28.2) and Hayek (:58 and 1:26.4) took turns on the lead. Race favourite Buck Dancer commenced a first over bid on the way to the half, and by mid-stretch he’d cleared to the front and began to trot away. He cruised home to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Hayek in 1:55.3. Never Mind N took home third prize. Carmen Auciello trains the four-year-old son of Guccio-Shaken Not Stirred for Fox Racing Inc of New York. After going 0-for-2 last season, the gelding has now put together a 10-4-3 from 20 trips to the track this year. The $11,000 payday bumped his lifetime earnings to $83,440. ....
