Trainer Tiffanee Staley and driver Denis St. Pierre have enjoyed a ton of success this season at Saratoga Casino Hotel after relocating here from Canada. St. Pierre is a Spa veteran but this most recent local stint for him is the first with Staley running the stable. The tandem had two horses in on Monday afternoon as razor sharp trotters Reign Of Honor and Tesla Seelster both looked to continue their hot streaks at Saratoga. Reign Of Honor (Father Patrick) prevailed in his first start in the local Open Trot in early June and after a brief stint out of town returned to the Spa to take part in the $14,000 Open on Monday. ....
Trotters tussled in series action Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park, as the Campbellville oval hosted round two of the Wine & Roses Trotting Series and the Family Day Trotting Series. Charmbo Prince was a repeat winner in the Family Day Trotting Series for driver Mike Saftic and trainer Jack Rier. The four-year-old son of Royalty For Life-Hetties Charm dictated the terms of the tempo when he threw down very sensible fractions of :28.4, 1:00 and 1:30.3. It turned into a final quarter sprint, and Charmbo Prince uncorked :27-second speed in the final frame en route to winning by a length over Franks Angel in 1:57.2. Toccoa Falls was third. ....
Trotters were in the spotlight during Monday’s 10-race program at Woodbine Mohawk Park as the oval hosted first round action of the Family Day Trotting Series and the Wine & Roses Trotting Series. Charmbo Prince was a wire-to-wire winner in his $17,000 division of the Family Day Trotting Series for male performers. Mike Saftic charged to the lead from Post 3 with the four-year-old son of Royalty For Life-Hetties Charm, and together they led the field through fractions of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:27.1 before scooting home in :28.4 to win by three-quarters of a length over Meadowbranch Noble in 1:56. Race favourite Toccoa Falls was third. It was a lifetime best performance for the four-time winner who races for owners/breeders Jack and Randy Rier. Jack trains the gelding who bumped his lifetime earnings to $74,453 with the victory. ....
