The bombing of european cities by both sides of the war and japanese cities by the u. S. As well as civilians and china and the philippines and korea by japan were consistent with and encourage by shermans precedent. The logic of saving lives and the long run seems to be refuted by history. Finally, if you scroll through this entry, the words related to William Sherman tags at the bottom includes collateral damage, murderer, terrorist, and war criminal. If you look at the word association, it includes war hero. What it does represent is a popularly held view that william t. Sherman and the march through georgia and the carolinas through the final months of the civil war have something to do with the creat
