in just a moment. anchor: first we want to get a sense of what s happening with the crowds lingering on the streets. anchor: we begin with tom who was out among the crowds this evening. what s happening now? reporter: calm has been restored. that was not the case about 45 minutes ago. let me set the scene for you. a few minutes after the curfew at 10:00 tonight there was a group that didn t want to leave. police formed a line and then they advanced and this video shows what happened next. a number of folks there being taken into custody di. many being tackled, hit with batons. these were all protesters who refused to leave when that 10:00 curfew started after a long day of marches and rallies. a vast majority of foblings decided to go home before the curfew took effect. a group formed a circle and decided they were not leaving. one said they felt now that charged were not announced they felt there shouldn t be a curfew anymore. they vowed it would be peaceful but also vowed t
tone of celebration. but supporters of the gray family say their fight for justice is not over. this is a first step not the last. and searching through the night. why it could still be hours before we know if anyone was killed in this collapse at the watergate complex. that breaking news is happening in prince george s county. a shooting along ritchie road has sent three people to the hospital. this is video from chopper 4 shot within the last hour. it shows a large crime scene taped off around a strip mall with a heavy police presence. we also have a crew on the ground. they are working right now to get more information. we know one of the people taken to a hospital was in critical condition. you can look for any updates on our nbc washington app. also just in new video tonight of celebrations on the streets of baltimore. those celebrations are getting broken up in this last hour. police are enforcing the curfew there. they are making some arrests near city hall.
interaction we ve seen today between law enforcement and protesters. let s show you video we shot in the past hour. by my count at least five or six people arrested, possibly more arrests, all for breaking curfew. i want to lay out a timeline for you. it was 10:00, that magical hour when curfew went into effect. you saw about 50, 60 people protesting here at veterans memorial park in front of city really, but when 10:00 hit, you heard a helicopter buzzing overhead announcing to the people down below you need to disperse. you re in violation of curfew and you now are risk being arrested. many people broke up at that point, but then you saw a number of officers move in from the side. officers had been gathering in the minutes leading up to 10:00, gathering across the street. at 10:00 they filed into the park and began taking people into custody. i spoke with one young man as he was put into the back of the police van and asked him what he thought, had he expected this. here s h
