The CHIRP summer concerts in Ballard Park has two fun shows this week, starting with Tuba Skinny on Tuesday. Formed in 2009, Tuba Skinny has steadily evolved from a loose collection of street musicians into a solid ensemble, dedicated to bringing the traditional New Orleans sound to audiences around the world. Drawing on a wide range of musical influences, from spirituals to Depression-era blues, from ragtime to traditional jazz, their sound evokes the rich musical heritage of their New Orleans home. GREENWICH, CT After 37 years as a postal worker in Greenwich, Cesar Carde is saying goodbye.
Carde, 64, officially retired on Wednesday from his job at the U.S. Postal branch on Amogerone Crossway, where he worked for the last 13 years. Throughout his career, Carde has worked at various branches around town.
But Carde didn t just head home after his workday. He was surprised by friends and family in Greenwich Common, who gathered to wish him well on the next chapter in his life. ....
