PORT CLINTON - Downtown Port Clinton’s popcorn shop just got a little sweeter. After weeks of remodeling, Great Lakes Popcorn Co. re-opened on April 2 with a new look and all its old favorites.
The shop still offers 30 flavors of popcorn, and soon, it will add another sweet treat to its menu - soft serve ice cream.
“We’ll be adding an ice cream machine,” said Roy Bemiss, who owns the shop with his wife, Heidi. “It’s a flavor burst machine, and 8 to 10 flavors can be mixed in. We’ll also offer popcorn sundaes.”

One more story about the late Bob Snyder.
Back in the 80s, The Port Clinton Kiwanis Club used to have a day of fun and frolic with a Dave Wolf organized trip. One year, Bob offered the use of his boat. Sadly, Bob matriculated his boat over some active fish nets, which stopped him cold.
Also, around that time period, Jerry Lippus, owner of Clinton Auto, located where Great Lakes Popcorn is today, ran a regular ad in The Beacon. Jerry was a bit of a jokester, and his ads featured a photo of himself making a muscle pose with no shirt on. His ads also used to have a bit of fun with his friends.
