Tell Tales 4-29-21 - The Beacon

Tell Tales 4-29-21 We were sad to learn of the passing of Dave Glasser, a local businessman, friend and former owner of Catawba Interiors. Dave and I used to team up for a major annual golf match with Dick Thompson and my brother, Chuck. It was always a good time. Our condolences to his wife, Mary Ann, and his family. As of this Saturday, May 1, the pedestrian traffic light on Perry Street at Lakeview Park and the City Beach becomes operational starting at 7 a.m. It has been on “flashing yellow” over the winter. So be on the lookout when driving on Perry Street in Port Clinton starting this Saturday.

Tell Tales 4-15-21 One more story about the late Bob Snyder. Back in the 80s, The Port Clinton Kiwanis Club used to have a day of fun and frolic with a Dave Wolf organized trip. One year, Bob offered the use of his boat. Sadly, Bob matriculated his boat over some active fish nets, which stopped him cold. Also, around that time period, Jerry Lippus, owner of Clinton Auto, located where Great Lakes Popcorn is today, ran a regular ad in The Beacon. Jerry was a bit of a jokester, and his ads featured a photo of himself making a muscle pose with no shirt on. His ads also used to have a bit of fun with his friends.
