georgia, where the former president lives just ahead. but first tonight to east palestine, ohio, where a train derailment and toxic chemical spill have residents and lawmakers demanding answers about the safety of the air and drinking water. garrett tenney is live in that small ohio town near the pennsylvania border. garrett. reporter: yeah, jon, it s now been more than two weeks since that train derailment, and a lot of people here are still feeling sick despite officials saying the data shows the air and water are safe. and these are just the short-term symptoms from chemical exposure with. what is even more concerning for a lot of folks here is the long-term effects, what things could look like 10-15 years down the road potentially as a result of this disaster. i think we coneed to be concerned about the long-term effects of exposure to this chemical. back in 20 the 12 is the there were hundreds of people who went to the e.r. in the aftermath of that train derailment
one person confirmed dead and five others who are currently in critical condition. we are learning the remaining victims have since been released from area hospitals after they got treatment and we are till trying to gather details and figure out what led up to the shooting but what we know so far from police is that they believe the two scenes are connected. we are told police officers responded first responded to shooting of address of establishment in white haven section of memphis. when officers arrived they located two shooting victims. five additional shot left thecan and taken to area hospitals in private vehicles. as officers dealt with the initial scene they received reports of more shooting victims of location a mile away. upon arrival one male victim was located and pronounced dead at the second scene. three victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds. memphis police and you mentioned this at the top, mike, just released photos of the 3
