Billy Adams, a 54-year-old Montgomery County man, spends his daily walk, a 12-mile traverse around the city, picking up garbage.
Dressed in active clothing and tracking his walk on a sports watch, Adams picks up all of the garbage in sight – from plastic water bottles to food wrappers, beer cans and disposable face masks – and fills at least two trash bags. The cleanup takes him about three hours.
Each day on his way home he stops at Starbucks on M Street for a Grande Americano and a fresh garbage bag. Starbucks employees said they’ve come to know him as the “garbage guy.”
