The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has laid out the reservation policy for the upcoming Panchayat elections in the state stating that seats that were reserved in 2015 elections will not be reserved in the forthcoming polls.
Out of the total 75 seats in the Panchayat elections, likely to be held in April, a total of 48 seats will be reserved while 27 seats will remain unreserved.Â
Among 48 seats that will be reserved in the upcoming panchayat polls will comprise 16 for SC, 20 for Backward Classes and 12 for women.

Lucknow, Jan 22: In the upcoming Uttar Pradesh gram panchayat elections, 40 candidates from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Moradabad have applied to the District President to fight elections for the zilla panchayat. Accoridng to reports, these 40 candidates have applied to contest from 39 wards.
The reports further stated that those who have applied to the District President will be fielded with the support of the AAP only after an elaborate interview is conducted to determine the right candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Elections in Moradabad.
According to the District President, Jabir Hussain, aspiring candidates have started applying from all wards. However, a final decision will be made in consultation with all the leaders of the party. Sanjay Singh, the AAP leader who is in-charge of the party in the state of UP had informed the party workers in November that application forms for UP gram panchayat elections can be filled

Karnataka state election commission on Wednesday said it has announced results for 54,041 seats of 5,728 Gram Panchayats, while that of the remaining 36,781 seats will be announced on Thursday. The state election commission said that the counting was still under process due to the usage of ballot papers. Every vote needs to be counted and in most cases recounted as many seats were witnessing a close fight. Hence, the counting is taking place in rather slow manner, a polling official told IANS.
