Shootout is at sf general with life threatening injuries. During the altercation Officials Say an officer fired at one of the suspects holding a gun, but did not injure him. Very deep passion for cats. Bob . Reporter good morning to you, marla. Yes. The woman who lives here cofounded the stanford cat network. She has dedicated her life to rescuing cats that have been roaming free on that campus. She took in at least 100 of them into her home. They were here overnight because she thought theyd be safe. Clearly, that turned out not to be the case when a fire started early this morning, around 1 45. She was inside the home. Her dog was fortunately there with her, another dog that she had rescued who was alert enough and save her, unfortunately you not the case for her cats. There just arent enough good homes for them. And they come home to live with me as well. And oh, my. Reporter shock over the incomprehensible. Almost all the cats carol miller spent her life rescuing gone within minutes, many trapped in their kennels, consumed by smoke and fire. I had probably close to 100. You, marla. Such a concern because the guava fruit fly uses not only guava but all sorts of citrus as a host for its babies. Thats where they lay their eggs. Once those eggs hatch, that fruit is destroyed. Thats why the Santa Clara County Agriculture Division has captured three male guava fruit flies in this particular neighborhood. This happened over the past two weeks. Discovered in traps that are regularly set throughout the counties to detect this sort of thing. They began eradication of this pest. The process is hardly intrusive, does not involve a wholesale spraying of the area, employees with the Division Drive down the streets, squirting trees that arent near cars with a tiny thing that contain contains a f mony to attract the fly.
