(WBRC) - The Jefferson County Sheriffâs Office is investigating after they say five people were shot in Fairfield Tuesday evening. One of those victims has died. Deputies were called to a scene in the 200 block of Glen Crest Drive around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a shooting. After arriving at the location, they found five men suffering gunshot wounds. One of them was pronounced dead at the scene. An official with the Sheriffâs Office says it appears the five men were in a park when someone drove by and fired shots at them with a high powered weapon. ....
Community Consolidated School District 89 issued the following announcement on Apr 19. Seventh-grade students can now apply to be one of the 2021-22 Student Representatives to the Board of Education. The Student Board Members will represent their classmates at monthly Board of Education meetings. All applicants will be interviewed and two students will be selected as the district’s Student Representatives to the Board of Education. The Community Consolidated School District 89 Student Board Member program is designed to give students a greater voice in the district’s vision and planning. CCSD 89 is one of the only districts in Illinois to have middle-school Student Board Members. ....

The blood drive will follow proper social distancing guidelines to allow the community to safely donate. All staff and visitors will wear masks. Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome.
