Strongman returns - Barbados Today

The very best of power and strength will be on show at the 2022 Barbados Kure Strongfest competition put on by the Barbados Powerlifting and Strength Association (BPSA).During a press conference held this morning at the National Union of Public Workers in Dalkeith Road, St. Michael, President of the BPSA, Manasseh King, said a total of 33 competitors have so far registered for the September 3 and 4 event at the St. George Secondary School.With the registration deadline being Tuesday, July 5, King explained that 22 of those registered are from overseas including the reigning 2019 Strongman Barbados winner Julio Sinclair of Guyana. Also making an appearance are lifters from Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname. ....

BSSAC athletes rewarded for their top performances

The most outstanding athletes who proudly represented their schools at the recently concluded PowerAde-Dasani Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championship (BSSAC), were this afternoon recognized for their efforts during a well-organized awards ceremony held at the Queen’s College.In the presence of several principals, teachers and various sponsors that helped to make BSSAC a success, the top performers led by the most outstanding senior athletes Josiah Parris of the St. Michael School and Shelanie Augustin of Combermere received their trophies and other prizes. Parris stood out in the boy’s open 200m winning in 21.27 seconds on the Ryan Brathwaite track at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex where BSSAC took place this year. Augustin, who is also a national football player, threw 13.37m in the Under-17 Girls shot put in what was an excellent showing.The most outstanding junior athletes were Geovani Lee of Coleridge and Parry and Tia Applewhaite of Combermere.
