live, from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix5 news. man, have you ever seen anything like this? september? in napa of all places! a freak hailstorm hits the bay area tonight. paul, you were in it. it was crazy! it was nuts. i have been here 20 years and never seen a hailstorm and the aftermath like this. it started in napa when we were reporting from the napa high school football game. things got crazy there, then we got video from browns valley road. that purple there was intense hail and look what it look like after the storm was finished. it is not everyday you can do hail angels in the bay area, but they did tonight in wine country. the ice is deep enough for kids to play in. driving and in napa tonight, it looks like it snowed but it is not snow. it is thousands of pieces of ice. hail, a huge hailstorm hit the ground and it looks like an inch or two of snow on the ground in late september here in napa. people are out having a good time having hail fights th

apart. reporter: you saw this video last week of marcel slapping francisco and dumping him out of the chair. this actually happened after what we saw near the elevator. by then, francisco was restrained in handcuffs. oakland unified has already fired the guard. now this woman you see helping during the prolonged struggle in the elevator is on leave. they are giving an interview. they are giving a background check. in this case, the people involved cleared their background checks no arrests or convictions certainly. reporter: it just so happens that both marcel and the female guard took a class on conflict management and deescalation procedures in april. a spokesman for ousc says guards will take another class this month and officials are looking for better training techniques so guards don t brutally assault students anymore. we realize this is a reprehensible incident. reporter: andria borba, kpix 5. marcel mitchell faces felony charges and we are waiting to hear
cloudy a smidgeon of sunshine toward the coast. looking out over the bay not bad right now. the temperatures are in the 40s and the 50s. by the afternoon, plenty of sunshine. and the numbers about 86 degrees in livermore. 81 in san jose. 79 in redwood city. and about 63 degrees in pacifica. all right. let s check the roads with elizabeth. thank you, lawrence. and before the san mateo bridge toll plaza we have a stalled big rig so it is blocking one lane. i have been watching our sensors. though haven t changed out of hayward. one lane is blocked. on the span everything is great, 13 to 14 minutes between 880 and 101. so all green through there. in fact, all green on most of our popular drive times for this time of the morning including 580 livermore, 880 in oakland, and the eastshore freeway through berkeley. we are starting to see the delays coming out of tracy. this is usually the first sign of traffic in the livermore valley but right now from 11th to mountain house and a
before you reach the dublin interchange. and you can see all the slow traffic now coming through the livermore valley. it s also very foggy. we can t even see traffic in our dub cam in that area. you can see the fog across the span of the golden gate bridge. they did the lane change. they have four southbound lanes open now in the commute direction. bay bridge toll plaza metering lights turned on early at 5:46. we are stacked up to the 880 overcrossing. muni experiencing major delays but should be slightly better today. all metro and bus lines are returning to regular routes. we have a reporter on the scene checking out the latest on the commute. we ll have that coming up. in the meantime, we have to get a check of the forecast out the door. it s foggy. yeah. that high pressure ridge starting to build is compressing that fog layer down toward the surface so seeing less widespread fog but it is cloudy indeed near the coastline and just inside the bay and up in the napa valle
