How DC s Generations Forged Connects to The CW s Crisis on Infinite Earths
In the final pages of today s
Generations Forged #1 from DC, the audience and the 1939 Batman learn that there s a linearverse, the timeline overseen by the Linear Men, in which the heroes and villains of the DC Universe age slowly, allowing for everything in the company s long publishing history to have all happened on one Earth. This may (or may not) be the main DC timeline, but one thing is for sure: along the way, there s a heavy implication that none of the various reality-destroying events of the last 35 year or so have actually destroyed reality at all.
Generations Forged #1 Makes DC s Continuity Simpler Than It Has Been in 30 Years
Generations Forged #1, a DC mini-event that helps recontextualize the metaverse from
Before Watchmen, which gave way to the omniverse in
Dark Nights: Death Metal. How? Well, it introduces the linearverse, and if you re getting lost already, you can be forgiven.but at least this particular version will be easy to remember because it s, frankly, so simple. Reminiscent of former DC publisher Dan DiDio s oft-repeated philosophy that everything counts,
Generations Forged #1 contends that the Batman from 1939 and the one currently walking around in modern comics are the same guy, just like every DC superhero (and villain) is the same as they ve ever been.
Did DC Just Reinvent One of Their Most Obscure Superhero Teams?
In this week s
Generations Shattered #1, DC seems to have introduced a reinvented version of one of their most obscure superhero teams: The Forgotten Heroes. Originally introduced in 1984, The Forgotten Heroes originally consisted of Animal Man, Cave Carson, Rip Hunter, Congo Bill, Rick Flag, and others C-list heroes who at that time had been largely forgotten by readers. They teamed up after having their reputations smeared by the U.S. government when they found mysterious templed suddenly appearing all over the world, and were dismissed as cranks. It was soon discovered that the pyramids were part of an elaborate plot by Vandal Savage to kill Superman.
Here s Every Booster Gold That Currently Exists in DC s Main Continuity
Today in DC s
Generations Shattered #1, fans got a look at a new version of Booster Gold the second such new take on the character in a fairly short amount of time. It really drives home something that s kind of interesting about Booster as a character: since he is a time-traveler, he finds himself forever bouncing through time.and that has led to what might be more canonical versions of Booster Gold existing in DC s main timeline than any other single character in the DC Universe. That s because the time-travel aspects just roll from one version to the next, meaning that while most DC characters will get rebooted following a major change to the cosmic status quo, Booster usually doesn t.
