Emergency medical services personnel Wednesday were the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine which arrived at the Henry County Health Department Tuesday morning.
The health department received 100 doses of the Moderna vaccine, which received emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration last week.
A closed vaccination clinic â meaning it was not open to the public â was hosted at Henry County South Joint Ambulance District in Hamler Wednesday, with 30 individuals from seven different fire and rescue departments participating, according to Scott Buddelmeyer, director of the ambulance district. This is the first of two doses that will be needed.
Jeff Brubaker, a member of the Hamler Fire-Marion Township Fire Department and president of the ambulance district board, was the first to receive the vaccine at Wednesdayâs clinic.
