BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Indoor conference honors for the 2021 season, announced by the league office Wednesday, included Razorback distance runner Katie Izzo selected as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter named SEC Coach of the Year.
Izzo, a double silver medalist in the 3,000m and 5,000m at the conference meet, led the team with 16 points as the No. 1 Razorbacks totaled 141 points and won a seventh consecutive SEC Indoor championship by 60 points. Izzo bettered the previous meet record in both races.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorbacks scored 25 points on the second day of the SEC Indoor Championships, while advancing 18 entrants to Saturday finals at Randal Tyson Track Center.
“That’s beyond any expectations, to say the least,” said Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter. “The SEC is so loaded and talented, and to be able to step up in very challenging prelims and have 18 of 19 entrants advance that is beyond any person’s wildest dreams.
“We had some kids run some lifetime bests, and definitely season best marks. So, the number of scoring opportunities we have tomorrow are better than anyone else here. The kids did a great job today to take care of tomorrow.” ....

Pair of bronze medals for Razorbacks on SEC opening day

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – G’Auna Edwards and the Razorback distance medley relay both claimed bronze medals as the SEC Indoor Championships started Thursday inside the Randal Tyson Track Center.
Edwards produced a career best score of 4,068 points in the pentathlon to finish third behind the winning score of 4,521 points by Georgia’s Anna Hall and 4,095 for runner-up Sterling Lester of Florida. Edwards improved her previous best score of 4,047 and remains at No. 10 on the Arkansas all-time list.
“I think I still have something left to PR again at nationals,” said Edwards, who set her previous best last season in earning a bronze medal at the SEC Indoor. “Effort and execute, with no excuses.” ....
