GUWAHATI: The monsoon is about to arrive in the state and the Gauhati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has not yet taken any steps to prevent the occurrence of flash floods, a perennial problem in the city. Channels and drains need to be de-silted well before the rains set in.

GUWAHATI: Assam’s young voter and international shuttler Megha Murchana Borah will be the brand ambassador of the state election department as the state goes to the polls next year.
Assam chief electoral officer (CEO) Nitin Khade, who visited the office of the district election officer of Kamrup Metropolitan District on Friday, said being a young voter herself, Megha Murchana will act as a brand ambassador for the election department, Assam, highlighting the role of young voters thereof, read a statement from the district election officer.
During his visit, Khade also interacted with Borah and discussed the importance of young electors for a stronger democracy.

Khade held a meeting about the ongoing Special Summary Revision 2020-21 with the District Election Officer BiswajitPegu, Election Officer (incharge) BistirnaBarua and Electoral Registration Officer of Gauhati East Constituency AdityaGogoi.
