After an eventful 77th Liberation Day parade that featured 44 parade contingents and 15 floats in all, two floats were eventually named winners in the float competition, with the Kagman Agricultural Farms and Producers Association and the Department of Corrections winning in their respective divisions.
Even before the start of the parade at 10am, people were already lined up and down the side of the Beach Road highway with colorful tents and costumes, from the front of the grandstand at the Garapan Fishing Base to the starting area down at the National Office Supply.
The flyover from a B-52 jet signaled the start of this year’s 77th Liberation Day celebration with a parade that snaked north along a crowded Beach Road, from the National Office Supply to the grandstand at the Garapan Fishing Base.

Officially kickstarting the nearly monthlong festivities, many members of the community and dignitaries joined the Office of the Mayor of for the opening ceremony of the CNMI’s 77th Liberation Day Festival last Saturday evening at the Garapan Fishing Base.
