The collaboration aims to expand music education opportunities in Karnataka. Additionally, KSOU will offer foreign language education in Spanish, French, and German in partnership with Jawaharlal Nehru University. The varsity is also set to provide skill development courses in collaboration with National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), benefiting over 5,000 students. Enrollments for various courses at KSOU continue to grow, with a total of 65,000 students currently studying at the university.

The Dr Gangubai Hangal Gurukul Trust, the country's first classical music institute following the guru-shishya tradition, is facing uncertainty as funds crunch has hit the functioning of the trust. Classes have been suspended since Dec as the government failed to provide additional funding. Gurus stopped taking classes as they haven’t received remuneration for the past six months. Despite efforts from local musicians and people to pressure the government for additional funds, no resolutions have been reached.
