The region in Sohna is designated gair mumkin pahar (uncultivable hill), which is notified under Section 4 of the Punjab Land Preservation Act (PLPA) that prohibits chopping of trees without permission.
Notices were issued to the property owners earlier this May after a survey by the department found several farmhouses built on the Aravali Plantation area in 11 villages of Gurgaon.
