All week on Action News, we re sharing with viewers a special series called, COVID 365: A year on lockdown.

The loss of a friend and fellow nurse, Sandy Oldfield, to COVID-19, shook Kaiser ICU Nurse Amy Arlund to her core.

The new vaccine clinics will be in Sanger, Kerman, Selma, Mendota, and Fresno City College.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) Many Valley counties are now one step closer to the red tier, after state health officials announced changes to the metrics for moving out of the purple.
They previously had to have 7 cases or fewer per 100,000 people. But now they re allowed to have up to 10.
Fresno County currently sits at 12.6, but Interim Health Officer Dr. Rais Vohra says that could change by next week.
It will be easier for us to move in the red tier. My fingers are crossed that that will happen that soon, he says. ....

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) As Fresno County inches closer to the red tier, public health officials announced promising trends, including a decline in daily COVID-19 case rates and more than 199,000 vaccine doses distributed.
Fresno County Public Health Officer Dr. Rais Vohra said, I really hope we don t slip during this last mile of the marathon.
With the state dedicating 40% of vaccines to vulnerable areas, Fresno County says it s a distribution target they ve likely already reached thanks in large part to community partners.
Community Health Division Manager Joe Prado said, We wouldn t be where we re at today with addressing vaccine hesitancy, with addressing lab testing. We have to think back to the beginning of the pandemic. There were a lot of people who didn t want to get tested. ....

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) As Fresno County moves closer to re-opening more businesses, health officials are monitoring the risk that a variant of the COVID-19 virus could pose.
What we are doing is asking our medical providers to really share any atypical cases that they have with us - for example (people who) got COVID, then got better and then got symptoms of COVID again. That s a red flag for us, says Fresno County Interim Health Officer Dr. Rais Vohra.
Vohra says samples from those cases could undergo variant testing at a state lab. ....
