On February 14, 2018, I hid inside my classroom for three hours attempting to keep 15 students safe while a gunman terrorized my school. By the time the SWAT team released us, it would become one of the deadliest school shootings in American history. The day in which 17 lives were taken needlessly, senselessly, and horrifically.
Nearly three years later, I can still see Building 12 (also known as the Freshman Building, where the gunman entered) from my same classroom at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. I see it every time I open the door. There are others on campus who can avoid it, walking a different way or because their classroom is in a different part of campus. I don’t have that luxury.

of us have seen police officers and sheriff s deputies do all the time. presumably he is talking with dispatch with the sheriff s department as news of what first were believed to be fire crackers and now is believed to be gunfire, active shooter gunfire from somewhere on campus is unfolding. and of course 17 people are being shot and killed. and 17 others are being shot and wounded. most of which happen inside billing 12. the freshman building, which we can t really discern whether this is the building here i believe the building in question is out of the frame right now. but the point of the video and the point of the sheriff when he launched this internal investigation three weeks ago. when he started throwing the school resource officer under the bus, was because you see on the video peterson, right there, he is outside, trying to figure out what s going on, where are thee shots if they are shots. it turns into a bit of a scramble and hyper alert
