Secretary, id like to make some opening remarks, if thats all right, before we get into minutes, i wanted to just thank everyone for being here today, and i just feel that i need to open up this meeting with an acknowledgment of the tragic events that occurred at west portal station over the weekend. Im imagining, but i dont know. But im imagining that many people are feeling anger, rage, a sense of powerlessness, hopelessness. I know that ive cycled through these feelings myself over the past 72 hours, and this happens whenever i hear of any fatalities or serious injuries on our streets. It shouldnt happen in our city or anywhere, and our hearts are with the family. I also know that when these kinds of things happen, there is a natural tendency to want to make sense of the situation very quickly by finding a villain to blame, pointing a finger and demanding action and i understand that. So as a compliment or alternative to that, my legislation officially recognizes that january is restaurant month in california, and establishes the last ten days of january as Restaurant Week in the city and county of San Francisco. I wanted to thank gwyneth from the Golden Gate Restaurant Association for their support and colleagues, thank you for helping me ensure we are doing the peoples business efficiently, effectively and in a way that respects the publics time. St. Patricks day father mcbride come before us on st. Patricks day. Just to give you a bit of background on father brendon, as he is known to everyone. He has committed his lifes work to help our irish immigrants. He is a native of ireland and been in in countries in the world, to eventually here in San Francisco. He has been especially formative in the Irish Immigration Pastoral Center here in our great city of San Francisco and everybody identifies father with the center. He has grown it into a thriving hub, helping irish immigrants in our city. It is a Nonprofit Community organization, assisting all irish immigrants in the bay area.
