ALBERT LEA, Minn. Over one hundred people gathered at Fountain Lake Park in Albert Lea Saturday to support local business owner Lisa Hanson.
The “Stand for Liberty” event was held just two days after Hanson was arrested for defying Minnesota COVID restrictions last November.
Hanson says her business, The Interchange Wine and Coffee Bistro, was already in financial ruin after the first lockdown, and she knew the business wouldn’t survive another one.

The owner of a wine bar in Albert Lea that stayed open in defiance of Gov. Tim Walz s COVID-19 executive orders was arrested in Iowa. Clear Lake, Iowa, police arrested Melissa Lisa Hanson at 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, and she was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail, Clear Lake PD told Bring Me The News. She was released hours later after posting bail, J.D. Carlson, director of Albert Lea Public Safety, said.

A group of prominent Minnesota Republicans – including gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen – will be attending a fundraiser for an Albert Lea bar owner who is currently evading a warrant for her arrest.
The event at Fountain Lake Park will be held this Saturday, May 1, as a fundraiser for Lisa Hanson, the owner of The Interchange Wine and Coffee Bistro who is currently wanted by authorities for failing to appear for a March court hearing related to her keeping The Interchange open during COVID-19 shutdown orders in December and January.
