Reporter well, kira, figure skating has a reputation for having a lot of drama attached to it and throughout this u. S. Championship, that has been no exception, leading right up to that announcement this morning. Of course, the focus around here is on karen chen, who came in third in the figure skating in the competition, which didnt necessarily guarantee her a spot on the olympic team. She did not know about that until 11 30 last night. She said she got a text message letting her know she was being nominated to the u. S. Team. She said she literally scream
Tonights nfl playoff game. They skated their hearts out. The u. S. Womens Olympic Figure Skating Team has been announced. Karen chen is one of the three women who will be heading to pyeongchang. Reporter she is feeling a couple of things right now. One, shes sick. The other, well, something precious few will ever know. The pride of becoming an olympian. Karen chen had just secured a spot on the United States olympic team, though she would not know it for another four hours. The honor, however, was not what was on her mind at that very moment. Staying up right was. I was really afraid that i was going to collapse and just kind of sit on the ice and just lay there for a little bit. Reporter chen, you see, had fallen ill. A virus had hit her not long after her Short Program landed her in third place. Up all night. I wasnt feeling good. I woke up with a lot of back pain. I wasnt able to move at all.
