BOSS takes aim at concealed carry

KILLEEN — Taking aim at a new goal, Soldiers with Fort Hood’s Better Opportunity for Single Soldiers participated in a Personal Firearm Safety Course Tuesday at Mountain Creek Range to receive their concealed carry permit. “It’s about Soldiers being more aware of firearm safety and getting their concealed carry permit,” Spc. Sandra Pacheco, BOSS vice-president, explained. Thirteen Soldiers participated in the full-day course, which was led by Dane Weatherstine, manager of Mountain Creek Range. Weatherstine, a former Fort Hood Soldier, found himself back in the greater-Fort Hood area after his Soldier wife was stationed at the Great Place. U S Army Criminal Investigation Command: Dead and Missing Soldiers – Soldier of Fortune Magazine

  June 21, 2020) – The skeletal remains of a missing Soldier discovered Friday in Killeen, Texas have been positively identified as those of Private Gregory Morales. Morales’ remains were discovered in a field near the 3200 block of Florence Road Friday morning after U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command Special Agents received information as to the location of the body. Foul play is suspected at this point in the investigation. Army Special Agents are working closely with the Killeen Police Department and are offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone with credible information concerning the circumstances surrounding the death of Morales. Morales was positively identified using dental records with the assistance of the U.S. Army Dental Corps.

SFL-TAP to host second virtual career fair

Following a successful virtual Mega Career and Education Fair in October, the Fort Hood Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program will once again host the biannual event virtually. “At a virtual fair you have the ability to visit all the employers, whereas at a face-to-face event, you are limited to time and fighting the crowds,” Jerry Hernandez, transition services specialist for the SFL-TAP program, said. “This is a great opportunity to explore a new job, career or higher education.” The Mega Career and Education Fair will be held virtually from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Jan. 26. Hundreds of employers and colleges are already registered for the event, which is designed to help Soldiers, families, retirees and others find their next career path. SFL-TAP also partnered with the Fort Hood Soldier Development Center to provide opportunities for those seeking a higher education.
