BOSS takes aim at concealed carry

KILLEEN — Taking aim at a new goal, Soldiers with Fort Hood’s Better Opportunity for Single Soldiers participated in a Personal Firearm Safety Course Tuesday at Mountain Creek Range to receive their concealed carry permit. “It’s about Soldiers being more aware of firearm safety and getting their concealed carry permit,” Spc. Sandra Pacheco, BOSS vice-president, explained. Thirteen Soldiers participated in the full-day course, which was led by Dane Weatherstine, manager of Mountain Creek Range. Weatherstine, a former Fort Hood Soldier, found himself back in the greater-Fort Hood area after his Soldier wife was stationed at the Great Place. His in-depth Personal Firearm Safety Course explains a wide range of topics, as well as hands-on qualification on a pistol.
