There is no carmaker out there with as much influence over the custom industry as Ford. The Blue Oval has been making cars pretty much since cars were invented, and that in itself isn’t spectacular. What is amazing is the fact that, unlike the products the competition had to offer back in the early days of the industry, its cars are much more present in certain segments. 15 photos
Although not limited to Ford, the hot rod and rat rod builders of today do seem to have a soft spot for the Blue Oval machines of old. We talked about many such creations in January, as part of the Ford Month here at

Ford Month is almost over, but we saved a spot this 1964 Ranchero because it s a TV star, not to mention one of the most original vehicles of its kind. It s safe to say there s no other one like it in the world, especially considering the money that went into this build. 11 photos
The Ford ute got presented at the 2018 SEMA show, but it was tucked away in a corner and didn t get the kind of attention it deserved. In case you watch car shows on TV, you might already be familiar with the Ranchero because it was featured on Bitchin Ride episode 14 of season 6.

Last year’s edition of SEMA was canceled at the last moment, like most auto events that implied large crowds gathering in closed spaces. That said, regulars at the show still unveiled their custom builds as they would have because what’s an artist to do?

The result is always, without fail, a piece of automotive jewelry.

There are some cars out there better left untouched. Doing so will help increase their value in time, as modern-day collectors usually spare no expense when it comes to fulfilling their dreams. The Shelby GT500KR of yesteryear is one of those cars. 17 photos
How much Shelby’s touch can up the price of an old Ford Mustang is no secret anymore. Add to that the KR moniker, the two letters that have come to represent the most powerful conversion of its kind at the time, and you definitely have something worth in the mid-six-digit range on your hands.

Combining elements that don t belong together often results in entertainment with a slight touch of outrage. And that s the case with this Ford Transit Custom van, which is looking a bit like a race car that seats too many people. 24 photos
Vans are like the unsung heroes of the automotive world. They get the job done with minimum fuss, often suffering from abuse and neglect. So it s nice to see an expensive-looking makeover once in a while, even though it doesn t make sense to race such a Ford.
Carlex Design has a number of other conversions for European market vehicles that other tuners ignore. Their pickup body kits are quite famous, especially the ones for the X-Class. This must be one of their first van projects, and it s got a full makeover, inside and out.
