1965 Ford Mustang Is a Lost-and-Found 10-Second Drag Car

1965 Ford Mustang Is a Lost-and-Found 10-Second Drag Car 21 Jan 2021, 9:50 UTC · by Drag racing and Ford Mustangs go hand in hand and have done so pretty much since the first generation of the car rolled off the assembly lines. Depending on the number of changes made to a stock machine, there’s a variety of drag Mustangs out there, but under-10-second cars are what everybody’s dreaming of. 10 photos The ‘Stang sitting before your eyes is a drag racer by design, and not one converted recently. It was allegedly made this way the same year it rolled out the Ford factory doors and wasted no time in hitting the strips. From 1966 to 1971, it was a regular presence in one of the many racing series of the time, Division 5 AFX.

Chopped 1930 Ford Model A Extreme Hot Rod Gets 350 HP From a Fully Exposed V8

autoevolution 21 Jan 2021, 9:09 UTC · by The two Ford models from the company’s beginnings, the Model T and Model A, are without a doubt the oldest cars in the world to still be around in some form or another. Sure, most of them look and perform nothing as they did when in stock form as they are now part of the hot rod world. That s a realm where these Blue Oval grandparents get so chopped, channeled and beefed-up Henry himself would have trouble recognizing them. 14 photos Because January is Ford Month here at autoevolution, hot rods have been a constant presence. None of the ones we’ve talked about so far, though, seem to come as close to the extreme side of things as this one here.

1-of-200 1986 Ford RS200 Was Barely Driven, Don't Let It Go to Waste

1-of-200 1986 Ford RS200 Was Barely Driven, Don’t Let It Go to Waste 21 Jan 2021, 12:14 UTC · by There are certain cars that, after enough time has passed since they were made, deserve to become museum pieces. They deserve to be admired solo or as part of some collection, and they kind of need to be occasionally sold so that their value goes up. 14 photos The Ford RS200 of old is not one of them. Sure, the nameplate is so important, historically speaking, that it would certainly be a perfect fit in a museum or collection. But that would also be a waste as, perhaps more than any other car out there, the RS200 was built to be driven. Hard.

2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 With a Unique Quirk Hasn't Aged One Bit

autoevolution 21 Jan 2021, 14:56 UTC · by Back in 2010, the Blue Oval was celebrating the 45th anniversary of the original 1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 the only way it was supposed to – by announcing the revival of the high-performance variant. This 2011 example basically takes us back in time to that faithful moment, as its odometer only registered the delivery mileage and a pleasure cruise or two since then. 40 photos Ready to rumble on the red carpet during Mecum Auctions’ upcoming Glendale 2021 spring event, the GT350 is part of the Steve Todhunter Collection and has had only two owners during its decade-long stint on this planet.

Chip Foose Improves Fox-Body Ford Mustang With "5.0 Shelby" Redesign

Chip Foose Improves Fox-Body Ford Mustang With “5.0 Shelby” Redesign 21 Jan 2021, 14:48 UTC · by Offered in three body styles, the third generation of the Mustang also happens to be the longest-lived pony car produced by Ford. The secret to its longevity is the Fox platform, which gave us the Fox-body Mustang nomenclature even though unibody means more than exterior panels. 9 photos Greatly improved twice during its life cycle, the Fox-based pony kept its head up high during the Malaise Era when the base motor came in the guise of an 88-horsepower Pinto four-cylinder. The Ford Motor Company even had to drop the 5.0 in favor of a smaller V8 for a few years due to the second oil crisis, but the small-block engine came back with a back in the 1980s.
