NSBCC Agenda – Shark Statues, Special Events, & The 4th Of July

New Smyrna Beach, FL – The first presentation at today’s New Smyrna Beach City Commission (NSBCC) meeting has been long in coming. The members of the Youth Council Task Force first presented their idea to the City Commission on May 14, 2019. The students were not able to move forward last year due to the pandemic and meeting restrictions. This year, they accepted submittals from local artists to volunteer to paint a shark statue. The idea is to place them around the city of New Smyrna Beach. Other items on the agenda include: With pandemic restrictions easing, the NSBCC is expected to give approval to four special events including fireworks display on July 4 and, along Flagler Avenue, the 32nd Annual Seaside Fiesta on June 17, NSB Shrimp & Seafood Festival on Aug. 5, and Light Up Flagler on Dec. 3. Buddy Davenport, of New Smyrna Beach will be recognized for his appointment to the Florida Inland Navigation District Board of Commissioner ....

Gov. DeSantis names Volusia, Flagler reps for Inland Navigation board

Randy Stapleford
Stapleford, part of U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz s staff, and previously served DeSantis when he was the Volusia-Flagler area s congressman, as well as Rep. Jason Altmire.
He is a retired United States Navy captain who served for 35 years as an aviator, attaché, director and commanding officer.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in management from Widener University, master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from Naval War College and a master’s degree in business management from Salve Regina University.

Davenport is president of Buddy Davenport Insurance Agency in New Smyrna Beach.
His public service includes involvement with the Florida Hospital Foundation, Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis International, Fraternal Order of Police and the Utilities Commission of New Smyrna Beach. ....
