CSPAN3 Navy Secretary Testifies On Readiness February 1, 2018

Good afternoon. I call this joint hearing of the readiness and subcommittees of the House Armed Services together. I would like to honor the 17 sailors lossed in the uss fitzgerald. And also the ten uss john s. Mccain sailors. Each one of them is so special to every person here. Over the course of the past six months, our subcommittees have met with Navy Leadership to understand the causeative factos that have resulted in the death of 17 sailors. Our men remain confident that our navy remains the most powerful in the world. However, the navy is not alone in responsibility. CSPAN Fiscal Year 2016 Defense Budget Request Part 2 February 7, 2015

We have a pretty good way of looking at the relationship between supply and demand. On the supply side you can capture this in a diagram. Im told you have 7. 9 billion for investment, reset and readiness which sounds a lot like putting money on procurement and operations make in its, do you have a criteria in mind when you decide what you will get from that account . Some people think that is pure padding. We would be the first to say that over the course of a decade or so that we havent overseas Contingency Operation funding, too much has crept into that account. We are determined to fix that. It ....

CSPAN Key Capitol Hill Hearings February 3, 2015

Growth reflects a widely held view that the economy is still returning to the full utilization of its resources. Several factors are supporting this growth. Fiscal policy has shifted to a generally neutral stance, aided by the ryanmarie agreement reached at the end of 2013. Consumer spending has picked up, reflecting savings from a recent drop in energy prices, the ongoing improvement in household finances, and increased economic optimism. There is continued room for growth in business and residential investment. The slowdown in growth for many of our key trading partners is however, a headwind for the u. S. Economy and a Downside Risk to the nearterm or cast. The later years of the forecast window, we assume that the rate converges to the two point 3 rate ....
