Altogether were fired. we know how many struck him. we don t know how many rounds overall were fired. what does that tell you about the shooting that we haven t been able to account for the number of rounds even fired yet? the police chief said, they haven t even had a statement yet from these officers a week on. well, you know, there s a term we use on the police department, contagious gunfire. we have a suspect who was fleeing from the police, first in a vehicle. be clear. he then gets out of the vehicle after firing a shot at the officers. now flees on foot. so, that s how we get here. so, when the officers minds, this is an armed, fleeing felon, a suspect running with a gun. and when shots are fired, it s very reasonable to think that other officers may have thought the suspect was returning fire and everybody shoot started shooting. i think it s important to look at the tactics, certainly, that the officers used. was there a plan? did they have a designated ....
Essentially if you have a fleeing felon who may hurt somebody else, that would give you reasonable grounds to use deadly-physical force to stop him. but there is yet another provision that says any officer using such force must be aware of his surroundings and the danger that the use of force might pose to innocent bystanders. and i think that s where the focus will be on this, in terms of whether the officer acted properly. now, bear in mind when these officers entered that department store, they had reports that maybe a shooting was going on. we there s other film that was released that indicated he had beaten at least three females. then, he started removing his pants as he was going to commit a sexual assault on somebody. and there was actually blood on the floor as they approached him, and the officer then fired the fatal shots. but i think the real question, when you go back over these films, will be did he have to fire at that particular moment? ....
