Vaccines Now Exceeding Demand, 'Ground Game' Targets New Veins

As vaccine supply edges past demand and the rate of those getting vaccinated is slowing, the Flagler County Health Department is shifting strategies and developing what one city commissioner described as a “ground game” in an effort to more broadly yet efficiently target new veins for inoculation around the county. To that end, the department is bringing four covid-19 vaccination opportunities to Flagler Beach this week and next, and by mid-May will make walk-in vaccination available at the Tax Collector’s office in the city, off of State Road 100, on Sundays, and possibly at other after-hour times. ....

Note: In anticipation of stormy weather this weekend, the Flagler Health Department is postponing all second dose Covid-19 appointments for Monday, April 19. The health department’s call center is contacting everyone scheduled with options to rebook their appointments. These options include Saturday, April 24 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Palm Coast, Monday, April 26 at the Flagler County Fairgrounds, and Tuesday, April 27 at the Flagler County Fairgrounds. For the first time since the December rollout of vaccines in the country and in Flagler, supply is exceeding demand as the county crosses the 40 percent threshold of those who have received at least one coronavirus vaccine and nears 80 percent for those 65 and over. ....

AdventHealth Palm Coast Will Build a $100 Million, 100-Bed Hospital on Palm Coast Parkway

AdventHealth today announced it will build a $100 million, 100-bed hospital with an emergency room on Palm Coast Parkway, just west of the Market Street assisted living facility, bringing hundreds of jobs, remaking the complexion of the west side of Palm Coast Parkway and reasserting itself as the dominant force in health care in Palm Coast and Flagler as challengers appear on the horizon.
The four-story hospital is scheduled to open in late 2022, according to a company release, “and will join AdventHealth Palm Coast to provide additional convenience and comprehensive care, including world-class orthopedics services, to Flagler residents.” ....
