This morning, almost right over the top of little rock. but even at this hour, we have thunderstorms still in louisiana, and a tornado warning for northeast corner of louisiana. so we re not completely done with the possibility of damaging winds from the thunderstorms with isaac. now as far as what we ll deal with in the days ahead with isaac, the storm will rain itself out, by saturday, sunday, monday in ohio it should be weaker. the storm is just about done. but we hope for the beneficial rains. as far as what we deal with, there are stops, hurricane kirk and tropical storm leslie. we call these fish storms, they will never affect any land areas, turning harmlessly out in the open area. this is a very active hurricane season. all right, bill, thank you so much. the rains moved away from isaac, but now they are assessing the damage. still ahead, on way too early, ....

earth. i m wolf blitzer. you re in the situation room. mitt romney is using ads, web videos, speeches to hammer away at president obama on welfare. romney is taking a lot of heat though over his claims about the administration s policies, but with support from an unlikely ally he s raising the stakes today. here s our national political correspondent jim acosta. reporter: wolf, mitt romney is not backing away from his accusation that president obama is trying to make it easier for the poor to receive welfare checks and to help make his case he s getting some help from an old rival. they just send you your welfare check. reporter: even though his ad accusing the president of weakening work requirements for welfare recipients got a pants on fire from politifact and four pinocchios from the washington post, mitt romney is doubling down on the claim. this is to help people go to work so they can stop drawing a welfare check and start drawing a paycheck. repo ....

we have been fortunate. we have had major hurricanes out there. they haven t made contact with really anyone. it s good. most of them have been fish storms. we had a storm that hit bermuda, but it was in a weakening state before it hit shore. we are on the dying end. we have to remember, it extends to november 30th. we could see things heat up. there s that potential. now, it looks like we are doing well. let s rock and roll and show you what we have. we are keeping eyes on a couple things. not just the tropics. watching these rain drops in the nation s midsection. this is part of a boundary moving across parts of iowa back into say, portions of missouri before the day is out. this boundary is going to bring rain to the southeast. it s having tough times in terms of drought. it could be coming later tonight and tomorrow. ....

We re getting the beneficial rains up through arkansas this morning. we can see localized flooding, but beneficial because of the drought in the area. the path of the storm in the next five days will slowly rain itself out. the heavier rain in arizona, central portions of illinois. here is a look at the current drought status across the country. and it is very dry. this bright red, this is kansas, missouri and illinois. this is the hardest hit drought areas. no relief through nebraska or oklahoma. what is next? this is the heart of our tropical season. september is actually the busier month, we have two hurricanes and a tropical storm. the hurricanes, fish storms well off the east coast, never approaching land. so lynn it looks like we should get through the holiday weekend. and no threats to the u.s., we ....
