Feet underground. The water was gushing into the middle of the intersection. Some of it collecting in the basement of the Moscone Center. They have been trying to pump out that water. Public works crews have been able to reroute the water fro though so no Service Disruptions right now. Now they are trying to get ready to repair that 12 pipe. We have to keep the water going. Once they open the street they determine where the leak is. Then they shut off the water and begin making repairs and moving the damaged section of the pipe. Reporter again, this operation will likely last until the afternoon. They have to figure out the cause of this break, as well. We have a lot of old pipes running through San Francisco and the puc thinks thats likely the cause, simply age. They dont believe its related to the subway construction. This is right along the route of the central subway so they have been doing some underground construction but it doesnt look like it is related to that in any way. Bott

You can see the work going on here behind me. They think they are going to have this finished by this evening and the roadway paved. But you can see they have a lot of work to do. This is right by the metreon and the moscone center. It was a 12 water main that broke four feet underground. Theyre replacing ground and will have to repave the road. Heres what it looked like right after the water main broke. This was at 3 a. M. , gushing into the basement garage of the moscone center. There was no damage but they had to pump the water out. Public works rerouted the water flow. So no Service Disruptions right now. As they are repairing this 12 pipe, they have been investigating the cause of the break. It appears to be age. I love baseball and i love this ballpark. So many memories here.
