Tigers Continue to Excel at the Professional Level

With the 2022 soccer season in the books, and the 2023 season right on the horizon, let's take a look at the all the Clemson men’s soccer program alumni playing professionally, both here and abroad.  MLS  Oskar Agren - Class of 2021  San Jose Earthquakes - Defender  In his debut season with San Jose, Agren earned three starts against Sporting Kansas City and Inter Miami. With 250 total minutes played and a 91.8% accurate pass percentage, Oskar hopes to build off of his first season in the MLS with more success in Northern California this season.  Joe Bendik - Class of 2009 Philadelphia Union - Goalkeeper  Joe Bendik is in his 10th season playing in the MLS and has amassed nearly 16,000 total minutes with nearly 200 games started as the last line of defense for five different MLS teams. Bendik started his MLS career with the Portland Timbers allowing only eight goals in his debut MLS season back in 2012. Bendik did not see any action in the 2022 season.  Luis Felipe Fernan ....

Tigers in the Pros Update

While the 2022 Clemson Tigers preparing to take the pitch to open their season on Friday, twenty former standouts of the Clemson men’s soccer program are competing at the professional level, with ten in Major League Soccer and others worldwide. Check out where and how the former Tigers are performing.  MLS Oskar Ågren - Class of 2021  San Jose Earthquakes - Defender Ågren is in his rookie season with the San Jose Earthquakes after being selected as the 13th pick in the first round of the 2022 MLS draft. He has made two appearances and two starts this season versus Sporting Kansas City and Miami. Oskar led the Tigers in game winning goals (3) as an on-field captain of the 2021 team that won the NCAA national championship. Tigers Storm Back in Second Half to Take Down Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. The Clemson Tigers secured their second come-from-behind win of the season on Friday night at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. thanks to a second half onslaught by their offense. Luis Felipe Fernandez-Salvador’s right-footed strike in the 87th minute proved decisive as the Tigers advanced to 8-2 (3-1 ACC) on the season.  The first half saw the two teams battle for possession and trade chances. Clemson had five corners while Wake had zero, but in the 41st minute the Demon Deacons (4-4-1, 1-2-1 ACC) were awarded a penalty kick. Jake Swallen converted the opportunity and gave his team the 1-0 advantage headed into the halftime locker room.  Clemson came out firing in the second half, with five shots in the first ten minutes of the frame. The fifth one off the foot of freshman Tim Ströbeck found the back of the net to level the game at one apiece. No. 2 Clemson Falls to UNCG 3-1 for its First Loss of 2021

CLEMSON, S.C. The No. 2 Clemson men’s soccer team (7-1, 2-0 ACC) dropped its first result of the 2021 season on Tuesday night at a rainy UNCG Soccer Stadium in a 3-1 loss to UNC Greensboro (5-2-1). Prior to the match, the Tigers had shutout six straight opponents and were outscoring their matchup by a score of 25-1 on the year.  The Tigers, who had only conceded one goal on the season before tonight, fell behind in just the second minute of the match, allowing their first goal in just over 623 minutes of play. The Spartans doubled their lead in the 32nd minute to send Clemson into the halftime locker room down 2-0.  Luis Felipe Fernandez-Salvador cut the deficit in half in the 60th minute on a header off the cross of Enrique Montana. The Tigers pushed for an equalizer, but when UNCG knocked home a third goal with just 11 minutes to play, the lead became insurmountable.  Up next, the Tigers return home to Historic Riggs Field where they will take on the Pitt Panthers in a rematch ....
