Woman who conspired to kill husband seeks release from Michigan prison


A Michigan woman who says she conspired to have her husband killed to protect herself and her 7-year-old daughter from abuse is asking for clemency, her only chance at freedom from a life sentence in prison. 
LuAnne Szenay says she endured violence at the hands of her husband for 12 years. In 1990, she hired two men to kill Timothy Szenay, believing that his death would be her only way out after police repeatedly dismissed her complaints of domestic abuse. 
She now recognizes her thinking was “terrible” and “wrongful,” according to a commutation application that her daughter filed on her behalf earlier this month. ....
