Fayette County Commissioners Make Appointments, Authorize Engineer

The Fayette County Commissioners made a couple of appointments during their meeting on Monday, March 1st.
Myron Priest of Washington CH was re-appointed as a Trustee of Fayette County Memorial Hospital, extending his appointment to May 2nd of this year. Beth Potts was also appointed as a county prevention specialist to the Central Ohio Regional Prevention Council for a two-year term effective March 1st.
The Commissioners also authorized the Fayette County Engineer to enter into a contract with Burgess & Niple Inc. of Cincinnati to provide engineering design work for the rehabilitation of bridges on Prairie Road, Snow Hill Road and Zimmerman Road. The contract comes with an estimated cost of $18,500, with the work scheduled for this summer. ....

Fayette County Commissioners Make Appointments, Authorize Equipment

Washington CH’s Ron Weade has been re-appointed to another 4-year term on the Fayette County Fair Housing Board. Mr. Weade’s new term will expire on October 11th of 2024. The re-appointment was made during the January 19th meeting of the Fayette County Commissioners.
Phil Bartley of Washington CH was also re-appointed to a 5-year term on the Residential Building Board of Appeals. Mr. Bartley’s new term expires in September of 2025.
The Fayette County Engineer is also being given permission to purchase a new John Deere Wheel Loader. The 2021 John Deere 624P Wheel Loader will come at a cost of $179,312. ....

Crews at the Fayette County Engineer’s Office continue to be hard at work to ensure roads in the community are cleared of snow and ice. This plow truck is one of the ones used by crews and is all loaded up and ready to get out on the roads.

Inclement weather from the weekend and Monday morning impacted local schools, and the wintry weather could continue this week. As for road conditions, Fayette County Engineer Steve Luebbe and his crew are prepared.
On Monday, the Washington Court House City School District was delayed by two hours and Miami Trace Local Schools closed following snowfall from over the weekend. The weather culminated in an advisory being issued by the National Weather Service which remained in effect until 3 p.m. due to the potential for some snow and ice accumulation. ....

Fayette County asks state to review dangerous Hwy. 3 intersection

The site of a fatal crash in July 2019 â Highway 3 and County Road V68 â is one of two intersections that county officials have asked the state to review.
At Mondayâs Fayette County Board of Supervisors meeting, County Engineer Joel Fantz reported sending a request for the Iowa Department of Transportation to take a look at that crossing as well as the Highway 56 and County Road W51 intersection.
âThese have had a higher than average accident rate over the years,â Fantz told the Daily Register. âWe have asked the IDOT to take a look at the intersections to see if there is something we can do, together, to make these intersections safer.â ....
