An early morning shooting Sunday resulted in one fatality and another in the hospital. Around 3:33 a.m., Kinston Police responded to the area of 2210 Old Snow Hill Road to reports of shots fired. While officers arrived they were advised that two gunshot victims had shown up at UNC Lenoir, according to a news release. Officers arrived at UNC Lenoir and found emergency personnel actively working on both individuals. The first victim, identified as Jerome Gadson, age 36 of Kinston, NC died as a result of his injuries. The second victim, a 36-year-old male was later transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for his injuries, according to the release. ....
Mar 9, 2021 The Fayette County Commissioners made a couple of appointments during their meeting on Monday, March 1st. Myron Priest of Washington CH was re-appointed as a Trustee of Fayette County Memorial Hospital, extending his appointment to May 2nd of this year. Beth Potts was also appointed as a county prevention specialist to the Central Ohio Regional Prevention Council for a two-year term effective March 1st. The Commissioners also authorized the Fayette County Engineer to enter into a contract with Burgess & Niple Inc. of Cincinnati to provide engineering design work for the rehabilitation of bridges on Prairie Road, Snow Hill Road and Zimmerman Road. The contract comes with an estimated cost of $18,500, with the work scheduled for this summer. ....

Burglar MEN who attempted to burgle a house fled when the homeowner was woken by a security app on his phone. Bolton Crown Court heard how Christopher Clementson was asleep at his home in Runfield Close, Leigh on March 5 last year when he was woken at 12.40am. A notification on his phone had been sent to him by his home security system, said Daniel Calder, prosecuting. When he got out of bed and looked through a window he saw a male dressed in grey standing in his garden. Mr Clementson then also saw two other men running away towards a silver BMW and when he checked his property he found that the patio door handle had been damaged. ....
