News from the fields, farms and beyond⦠When a large national meat processing company was hacked and put out of commission it created a panic that meat supplies would dry up at grocery stores. However there are a growing number of Cecil County farmers raising beef, chicken, lamb, goat and other livestock with a ready supply of meats ready to go into freezers. One of those is Christopher Price is a third generation farmer raising Angus beef. âMy grandfather bought this farm in 1948 and started a beef operation,â Price said. Now more than 70 years later Price said most of the business is in freezer beef ordered by customers and picked up at one of two processors; Haass in Dover or Sudlersville Meat Locker. ....

The much-anticipated Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill will take place October 14-17 at the new Fair Hill Special Event Zone in Cecil County, Maryland. The event, one of only two 5 Star (CCI5 -L) equestrian events in the United States and seventh worldwide, will showcase four days of world-class competition at the Olympic sport of Eventing’s highest level. Spectators will see Eventing’s elite athletes and horses competing at the new venue for the first time across three disciplines, dressage, cross-country, and show jumping for a combined $325,000 in prize money. ....

For its inaugural year, the event invites Retail Vendors who create, procure, and sell distinct offerings to apply. Retail Vendors will have a unique opportunity to help create the identity of this top-class event, as well as be the focal point of the festival-like atmosphere. The Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill will welcome spectators from across the state, Mid-Atlantic region, and beyond, aiming to provide them with highly curated and desirable retail offerings. ....
