MHSAA says winter sports will start when MDHHS restrictions are lifted

EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The Representative Council of the Michigan High School Athletic Association has reaffirmed its commitment to play Winter sports when current restrictions are lifted by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
The winter contact sports of basketball, competitive cheer, ice hockey and wrestling are allowed presently to participate in non-contact activities only due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The non-contact Winter sports of bowling, girls gymnastics, skiing and boys swimming & diving are able to participate in those activities fully.
The M.D.H.H.S. limitations on Winter contact sports were extended last week through February 21. ....

PORTLAND – The Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks did to the North Huron football team what the coronavirus couldn’t do: They ended the Warriors’ season.
The Shamrocks beat the Warriors 34-12 in the 8-Player Division 2 semifinals in Portland on Saturday. St. Patrick got out to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Warriors regrouped and kept pace with the Shamrocks the rest of the game.
Still, the hole was just too deep, and St. Patrick held on to advance to next week’s Division 2 championship game against Powers North Central. ....
