Published February 20, 2021, 4:41 PM BUTUAN CITY – Tropical storm “Auring” (international name “Dujuan”) has affected or displaced close to 8,000 families or 10,000 individuals in various parts of Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region where the weather disturbance is expected to make landfall Sunday. Surigao del Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) chief Abel L. de Guzman said 4,068 families or 7,518 individuals from 77 barangays are now temporarily sheltered in different evacuation centers in the province for safety. Per directive of Gov. Alexander T. Pimentel, all of these families are being closely monitored for their needs, the PDRRMO official said. The PDRRMO is checking the reported partially damaged 13 houses in some parts of the province per flash report from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). ....
Published February 19, 2021, 10:27 AM BUTUAN CITY – All rescue teams of different Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs) in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region are gearing up for “Auring” Friday, February 19, which has already developed into a tropical storm. Tropical cyclone wind signal No. 1 is raised over several provinces and cities in the region as early as Friday morning. The command and action center of the regional Office of Civil Defense (OCD) now closely monitoring all DRRMCs spread in the five provinces and six cities in Caraga region, awaiting any development from their different areas. The regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) here also in full preparation of family food packs for local government units (LGUs) immediate assistance. ....
