When firefighters arrived here at about 1 a. M. You can see beyond that how much damage was done to this house. There was a husband and a wife who made it out alive after trying unsuccessfully to fight this fire with a broken fire extinguisher. It was the wifes aunt who died. She was in a back bedroom in a wheelchair and to rescue her, firefighters had to get through the fire first. It is a challenge because you have to get to them quickly because you know that the conditions in the room are not favorable, you know, for anybody to live in that type of condition. I walked down here and i looked at the officer and i said, did everybody get out . He said no, unfortunately not. Reporter firefighters were able to bring that woman out the front door still alive. They tried to resuscitate her with cpr. It was unsuccessful and she died at the scene. The man who lived in the house went to the hospital with smoke inhalation. He is expected to be okay.
