Richard “Dick” Heikkinen, 90, of Esko, was peacefully released into God’s loving arms on Friday, October 27, 2023. Dick was born December 7, 1932, to Walter and Ellen (Lindfors) Heikkinen. He spent much of his early childhood in Esko until his family moved to Duluth where he attended Central High School. Dick often spent his summers with his grandparents on their family farm in Finland, Minnesota, a place he loved dearly.
Daniel F. Pantsar, 78, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. He was the youngest child of Emil and Vieno Pantsar, born on June 23, 1945, in Cloquet, MN. He attended Esko Public Schools, graduating in 1963. During the teen years, his brother Jim piqued Dan’s interest in archery and at the age of thirteen he became the MN State Junior Archery Champion. He continued to win awards in the more skilled Men’s Division, as well. His interest also piqued when a sweet junior high school high girl, Janet Juntunen, caught his eye. She became his wife on September 19, 1964. They were married for 54 years and were blessed with two sons.
