Daniel F. Pantsar, 78, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. He was the youngest child of Emil and Vieno Pantsar, born on June 23, 1945, in Cloquet, MN. He attended Esko Public Schools, graduating in 1963. During the teen years, his brother Jim piqued Dan’s interest in archery and at the age of thirteen he became the MN State Junior Archery Champion. He continued to win awards in the more skilled Men’s Division, as well. His interest also piqued when a sweet junior high school high girl, Janet Juntunen, caught his eye. She became his wife on September 19, 1964. They were married for 54 years and were blessed with two sons.
Lois Marie Johnson passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, after a 10-year courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family. She was born April 22, 1952, in Duluth, MN, the second daughter of Oscar and Ailie Sunnarborg. Lois graduated from Cloquet High School in 1970 and married the love of her life, Ronald Leslie Johnson, on December 16, 1972.
Mary Helen (Stone) Juntunen, 95, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Evergreen Knoll Senior Living in Cloquet. Born in 1926 in Richmond, Kentucky, she grew up in Paris, KY. She met Bill Juntunen when he was stationed with the U.S. Army in Lexington, KY. They married in 1946 and lived in Esko throughout their married lives in homes that Bill designed and built. Outside the home, she had various jobs throughout her life, including helping Bill in his business, but her favorite was co-managing Standard Oil’s corporate resort in Woodruff, WI.
