AGN Media Officials with the Amarillo branch of the Salvation Army recently announced it will host a Christmas celebration for its residents. But because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be changes to this year s event. According to a news release, the event had previously been open to the community at the branch s location at 400 S. Harrison. But with COVID-19 protocols and the need for social distancing, it will only be open to residents Friday evening. “COVID-19 has changed so much in our society, Major Ernest Hull of the Amarillo branch of the Salvation Army, said in the release. “Everyone has to look at service delivery in a whole new way, and we are no different. While we would usually welcome guests on Christmas day to enjoy a holiday meal with our shelter residents, this year we cannot.” ....

But this year, like most things in the past nine months, plans had to change due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But the fact that in-need families from the Amarillo area were served did not change.
