A female Venezuelan national is rescued after the boat n which she was travelling with others capsized on the way to Trinidad on Thursday.

A boatload of Venezuelan migrants is feared dead after a vessel capsized on Thursday, plunging more than 25 people into the high seas. A news report from Delta Amacuro said the boat was bound for T&T.
Cedros councillor Shankar Teelucksingh said migrants who live in a small village at Bilwah Trace, Cedros, were mourning the deaths of the missing Venezuelans.

On beaches across the island people will be gathering to see the new year in by taking part in the traditional dip in the Irish Sea.

The event is hosted by the RNLI and any money raised through sponsorship will benefit it and Bunscoill Rhumsaa.
Peel - 12pm outside Peel Sailing and Cruising Club.
Sponsor forms can be collected from Greens Jewellers at 37 Michael Street, to raise funds for Peel Lifeboat, Multiple Sclerosis and the Huntington’s Disease Association.
