Aged care report reveals serious failures in Melbourne facilities

Aged care report reveals serious failures in Melbourne facilities 22/12/2020|1min
A new report has revealed two nursing homes at the centre of Melbourne’s devastating second wave were inadequately prepared to respond to emergencies.
A review into St Basil’s Home for the Aged and Heritage Care’s Epping Gardens found the homes had deteriorated into a shocking state during the pandemic, with infections established within the sites before effective responses were put in place.
Staffing was found to be scarce, with workers sent in to help also having not worked in the aged care sector before.
